March Fishing Report: Marco Island/Naples

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

" Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is. "

March’s weather has been unpredictable to say the least: cold, hot, and windy!

The windy conditions have made it very difficult some days for me to get live bait. Although, the live bait has been plentiful and easily caught when the conditions were right.

When the live bait has been unavailable, we have been successful with jigs and shrimp. I have visited several different spots this month and the locations have been producing a variety of fish! The beginning of March provided us with the chance to catch a lot of sheepheads and trout. And the redfish seem to be everywhere from Naples to Marco and are always a fun catch. Also, the mangrove snapper are starting to come in the backwaters as the water temperatures increase. This always makes for a delicious dinner for my clients or myself!

We have caught a lot of juvenile snook this March and with each passing week the snook bite is getting better and better.

March has been a busy month for me and my calendar has very limited availability for the rest of the month. April and May are already almost filled up. These months seem to be some of the best fishing of the year. I have updated my website to include a more streamlined booking process.

I look forward to fishing with you.
